A box arrived today. Inside it was a medal with "Wishing Shelf Book Awards Finalist" stamped on the front. I stood and looked at it for a bit. Then I put it next to the book and took a photo on the grass because that felt like the thing to do. I have never received an award for anything before.
The Other Lotus Girl is a finalist in the 2025 Wishing Shelf Book Awards. I wrote it at a desk in Northern England wondering if anyone would ever read it. Enough people did, apparently, and some of them gave it marks high enough to end up here. That still feels odd to type.
Results day is the 1st of April. If it gets anything more, I am sure it will be an April Fool's Day joke. I am just happy to be a finalist with my second released book.
In other news, Janus Origin: Threads of Control is being withdrawn from Audible. If you have been meaning to grab the audiobook, now would be the time because once it is gone, it is gone. The story is not going anywhere though. I am turning it into a free podcast series, the same format as The Other Lotus Girl audio drama. Full cast. Character voices. The whole thing. It will land on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music when it is ready.
Thirty-five episodes in total. That is a lot of Nathan and Lan, which I think is a good thing. It starts in a cafe in Preston. Has some important necklaces. As well as a love story that they may not have chosen to have…
More on that soon.
Bye for now.
